"Prior to my brother going to Redcroft House, he stayed with my mum. He led a very sheltered life, preferring to stay in the house and had a limited social life. He did have some support out with the home – he went out with a support worker once or twice a week but sometimes preferred to stay at home.

When mum died, as a family we were unsure what would be the best for my brother, and we bless the day our social worker suggested that we talk to Rajen in regard to a place for him at Redcroft House. On entering for the first time, it was like a home from home. As we had never had to do anything like this before we needed to be reassured that we were doing the best for my brother.

He has been at Redcroft House since 2009 and he absolutely loves it. Any medical issues are addressed quickly and at all times we are kept up to date with what is going on in his life.

My brother is encouraged to decorate his bedroom as he would like and he has family photos and other treasures displayed. He is supported in keeping his room tidy and the staff encourage him to wear the nice clothes he has been given as gifts at Christmas and birthdays. He has even bought a suit which he wore to his niece’s wedding. Prior to being in Redcroft House he would not have had the confidence to do this.

The service users have regular social activities and as a family we are invited to join in. The Christmas Party is not to be missed!! Our grandchildren love going to this. At the moment holidays are being planned and the service users are all involved. Their wishes are considered and there is lots of discussion.

In 2009 we were unsure how things would work out for my brother. We had no need to worry at all as my brother has settled into Redcroft House so well. He leads a full and happy life, and we have the reassurance that he is being well looked after by the excellent staff. We have no concerns what so ever.
