For this year's Redcroft House Service User Holiday the destination was Fort William.
The Service Users were all involved in several Service User meetings to help them decide on where to go and which staff they wanted to go with them.
It was a nice drive up to Fort William, the weather was nice and clear and we managed to stop at Dobbies in Perth for lunch.
For the first night we tried a Thai Restaurant called Sugar and Spice.
On our second day we drove to the Nevis Mountain Range and had a ride up the mountain on a gondola. Despite the ride up being very steep and high, the Service Users were all very brave and enjoyed the view.
We then had a lovely meal at the Ben Nevis Inn for the evening. This restaurant proved to be hit with the Service Users as they advised they wanted to go back again another night!
The following day the Service Users decided to go on a boat ride on Loch Linnhe.
Once again the weather was very kind to us. We saw a salmon farm and some seals!
Afterwards we passed through the town centre, had a walk and did some shopping.
On the next day out we went on a train trip to Mallaig. This journey is decribed as "The World's Greatest Train Journey". The train passed through some locations made famous in the Harry Potter films - the 21-arched Glenfinnan viaduct and the Island that Dumbledore was laid to rest. Once the train reached Mallaig, we had a lovely lunch in a cafe, visited a museum then we did some more shopping whilst still in Mallaig.
During our last days whilst up North we visited the Ben Nevis Inn again and drove up to Aviemore and went on the Furnicular railway up the Cairngorm Mountain. We grabbed some lunch and did some shopping in the gift shop whilst up there. After that we went to have our evening meal at La Taverna - an Italian restaurant that also remains a favourite for the Service Users.
On our last day in Fort William we visited the Ben Nevis Distillery, did some more gift shopping and went bowling!
On our drive back home we stopped in Perth for lunch at Frankie & Benny's to help one of the Service Users celebrate their birthday!
All in all it was a very enjoyable trip.
